Terms of Service
Last updated: February 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Hogit ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to use the App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
3. Description of Service
Hogit is an independent third-party mobile companion application for PostHog, the open-source product analytics platform. Hogit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to PostHog Inc. The App connects directly to your PostHog instance to provide monitoring, analytics, and management services.
4. How the App Works
Hogit acts as a thin client that communicates directly with your PostHog instance using the API key you provide. All analytics data, events, feature flags, and experiment results are fetched directly from your PostHog instance to your device — Hogit does not proxy, relay, or store your PostHog data on any intermediary server. Your API key is stored exclusively in your device's native encrypted keychain (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) and is never transmitted to Hogit's infrastructure.
5. Instance Access & Credentials
Hogit does not require you to create an account. You connect to your PostHog instance by providing a Personal API key. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your PostHog API credentials and for all activity that occurs through the App using those credentials.
6. Credential Security
Your PostHog API key is stored using your device's native encrypted storage (Expo Secure Store backed by iOS Keychain or Android Keystore) with WHEN_UNLOCKED_THIS_DEVICE_ONLY access level. The API key is injected into requests at the time of each API call and is never:
- Transmitted to Hogit's servers or any third-party service
- Stored in plain text or in unencrypted storage
- Synced to cloud services
- Logged or included in crash reports
7. Subscriptions & Payments
Certain features of the App require a paid subscription ("Hogit Pro"). By subscribing, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
- Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly, depending on the plan you select) and automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Payment is processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store via RevenueCat and is subject to the respective store's terms and conditions.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device's subscription settings.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain access to Pro features until then.
- Refund policies are governed by the respective app store (Apple or Google).
- A lifetime purchase option may also be available as a one-time, non-recurring payment.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App
- Use the App to transmit any malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Share your PostHog API credentials with unauthorized third parties
9. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, graphics, and content, is the property of Hogit and is protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal or business purposes. The PostHog name and logo are trademarks of PostHog Inc.
10. Data & Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Hogit is designed with a privacy-first architecture. Your PostHog analytics data, event results, and API credentials are never stored on Hogit's servers. Anonymous error reports and performance metrics are collected via Sentry to help us improve the App. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
11. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms:
- PostHog — Product analytics platform (your instance, your data)
- RevenueCat — Subscription and in-app purchase management
- Sentry — Error tracking and performance monitoring
We are not responsible for the availability, functionality, or security of third-party services. Your use of PostHog is governed by PostHog's own terms of service.
12. Data Deletion
You can remove your data at any time from within the App. When you remove an instance, Hogit performs comprehensive data cleanup: all API keys are removed from secure storage, all cached data is cleared, and all local data is deleted. This process is immediate and irreversible.
13. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from security vulnerabilities. Hogit is not responsible for the operation or availability of your PostHog instance.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hogit shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, analytics discrepancies, or business interruptions.
15. Modifications
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting the updated Terms within the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
16. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease.
17. Contact
If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us at hello@hogit.app.
